In collaboration with the Department of Home Affairs, SASSA discovered that many of these beneficiaries do, in fact, have valid 13-digit ID numbers recorded in the national database\u2014yet these IDs are missing or incorrectly listed in the SASSA system.<\/p>\n<p>Once these clients have presented themselves at various SASSA offices, a review will be done and then their 13 digit ID numbers will be captured in the system. Beneficiaries who fail to come forward during this process may have their social grants suspended, and if they continue not to respond, more drastic actions such as lapsing of their grant will be applied.<\/p>\n<p>The other beneficiaries that are targeted include those identified through the bulk means test process, to check if have some income that flows into other bank accounts that they did not disclose to SASSA.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/plotterwave.com\/blog\/fg-announces-new-date-for-disbursement-of-n50000-presidential-grants-and-loans\/\"><strong>Social grants beneficiaries<\/strong><\/a> are reminded that, in line with Regulation 30 of the Social Assistance Act, social grants are subject to reviews at any time when there are reasons to believe that beneficiary circumstance has changed. A beneficiary may have applied for a grant at specific period and qualified but their material conditions could have improved over time and made them not eligible to receive a grant anymore.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2086\" data-end=\"2328\">Letsatsi further noted that the agency will step up efforts during the 2025\/2026 financial year to monitor beneficiaries more closely. Monthly reviews will be conducted to identify clients who need to confirm or update their personal details.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2330\" data-end=\"2609\">Importantly, the verification initiative is also part of a broader internal investigation into potential fraud.
