This competition is a celebration of the annual World Maritime Day, focusing on maritime safety and the urgent need to protect our marine environment while adapting to rapid technological advancements.
Key Details of the NIMASA World Maritime Day Essay Competition
- Application Deadline: September 13, 2024
- Top Prize: N500,000 education grant, a laptop, a plaque, and publication of the winning essay in NIMASA’s magazine, The VOYAGE, and on the NIMASA website.
- Second Prize: N350,000 education grant, a laptop, and a plaque.
- Third Prize: N250,000 education grant, a laptop, and a plaque.
- Consolation Prizes: 7 awards of N100,000 each, plus a plaque.
Eligibility and Requirements
The competition is specifically for students from maritime tertiary institutions or those studying in departments related to maritime studies. Here’s what you need to know to apply:
- Proof of Enrollment: Include verified proof of your student status with your essay. This should include an admission letter and an ID card from your institution.
- Essay Specifications: Your essay should be no more than 1200 words (plus or minus 10%) and must be double-spaced in Microsoft Word with a font size of 12. Ensure that your work is original; plagiarism or the use of AI-generated content will lead to disqualification.
- Contact Information: At the end of your essay, provide your full name, phone number, and email address.
Submission and Selection
