The minister shared this exciting update on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, during a town hall meeting with North Central youth stakeholders in Abuja.

Dr. Jamila highlighted that the overwhelming response underscores the keen interest among Nigerian youth to access the fund and support their entrepreneurial and innovative pursuits.

She expressed that this enthusiasm is a positive sign and the ministry is dedicated to a fair and transparent selection process to support the most deserving and impactful projects.

The NYIF aims to provide targeted financing mechanisms for youth-led businesses and innovations, ensuring that young people are gainfully engaged in productive ventures.

Dr. Jamila emphasized that the program has been restructured to concentrate on high-potential existing businesses and create strategic clusters. These clusters are expected to generate up to two million direct and indirect jobs within three years.

She said the current administration, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, prioritizes forming strategic partnerships and fostering collaborative efforts.

Dr. Jamila urged all stakeholders—government at all levels, the private sector, traditional and religious leaders, civil society, and the media—to join forces in mobilizing the youth across various social strata to take advantage of the NYIF.

She emphasized that by working together, Nigeria can create a supportive environment for young entrepreneurs to succeed, boost the economy, and shape a better future for our nation.

The NYIF is a strategic initiative by the Federal Government of Nigeria aimed at harnessing the potential of Nigerian youth for economic growth and innovation. It focuses on developing and empowering young entrepreneurs nationwide.
